Membership and Donations
Efforts to send humanitarian medical
aid in the form of equipment and drugs to Cuba are supported by
both UNISON and the Institute of Health service Managers. Scottish
Medical Aid for Cuba welcomes donations and affiliations
from organisations and individuals.Organisations are also invited
to send a delegate to meetings of the Committee.
As a recognised Scottish charity
, we are able to claim from Inland Revenue the income tax paid
on donations and membership subscriptions. This 'gift aid' scheme
currently adds 28pence to every£1 given us by a tax payer.
All donations and membership subscriptions made since April 6th
2000 are eligible. If you are an existing supporter, or wish to
join or make a donation, please complete the 'gift aid' declaration
form HERE.
Cheques/Postal Orders should be
made payable to Scottish Medical Aid for
Cuba.
Many supporters of Scottish Medical
Aid for Cuba make their contributions by monthly standing order
or direct debit payments. The impact of even relatively modest
contributions is significant. For example, a single donation of
£2 per month - increased to £2.56 by 'gift aid' -
purchases a total of more than 5500 paracetamol tablets, 5000
multivitamin pills and 4000 anti-histamine tablets each year.
Given that the administration
costs of Scottish Medical Aid for Cuba are minimal, contributors
are assured that the whole of their donation is devoted to providing
vital medical supplies
